Alexa+ enables hands-free texting and emailing for the first time, but unlike a personal phone, it's a shared communal device — making privacy the core design challenge when personal conversations, contacts, and messages are enabled to anyone in the family.

Collaboration: Partnered with six product owners, horizontal teams, and legal
RESULTS
Four million customers signed up for the beta hours after the announcement

PROPOSALS FOR ENABLING COMMUNICATIONS CHANNELS
Project learnings and challenges
Leveraging in-the-moment setup (e.g. when a customer tries to send an email) is a missed opportunity if not designed upfront — retrofitting it later adds complexity across teams
Legal requirements often increase the number of steps in a flow; proactively designing for reduced friction while meeting compliance is critical to avoid bloated experiences
As end-to-end design lead across all connection features, consolidating conflicting requirements from 6+ teams into unified messaging for the central implementation team requires constant re-alignment and clear documentation of decisions
